Beach Bum

I went to the beach with my friend's nieces for the eldest one's birthday today.  Beaches in Massachusetts are nothing to call home about.  It was really hot today!  I love the sun and I love being out, so a beach day was definitely delightful... in theory. Lol.  We went to Revere Beach, and the water was sooo salty.

I swear as soon as I stepped out of the house, I got a tan.  After a bit of frolicking in the water, I took a nap, and boy was it a great one.  

So, this outfit is my attempt at mixing patterns.  I have always shied away from mixing patterns because I was unsure of how to do it.  Also, ever since I was a child Haitians in Boston have had a bad rap for fashion lol.  I do not want to fall into that stereotype.  But I think I did pattern mixing justice.

Are there any fashion trends that you steer clear of because of silly fears?
