Food & Friends = Fun

Two of my friends and I went out to eat at a French Cambodian restaurant today.  This was my second time going there, although the first time was at their other location.  The food was delish, as was to be expected!  I had a great time joking and laughing with the buds.  Also, I deserve a pat on the back because this is my first time taking outfit pics in public like this.  There were people walking around! Oh the horror, what will they think?  I know, I know I even shocked myself by with my bravado.

Moo!

While I was at the supermarket last week, I noticed a long piece of meat in the frozen meat section.  Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a cow's tongue!?!  I've heard of this delicacy but I would love to hear someone who has eaten it to tell me what it tastes like, and how to cook it?

Update: I had cow tongue fritters while on a brunch date with my girl Z, and it tasted like ground beef.  I was of course disturbed that I was eating a tongue, but otherwise it was fine.

My two front teeth

I had my 3rd retightening appointment today.  My teeth are super sore, but I've had teethloads of progress so I'm willing to take the pain for the gain.  Although these braces are so annoying when eating, talking and just plain living; I don't regret getting them at all.  I've had so much progress in a very short period of time.  If you look at the pic of my Dec tightening, you can see that my top two big teeth closed completely, and you can also see the clear elastic string around them.  The bottom four were almost closed as well with the elastic string pulling them together.  At last week's appointment the ortho assistant replaced the bands around the braces and replaced the elastic string around the original top two and the tooth on both sides of them.  The same was done to the bottom four and the tooth on both sides.  A wire string was used to hold the original top two teeth together and the bottom four respectively.  Unlike the elastic, the wire does not move the teeth, it is only used to hold the teeth in place.

Snow Snow Go Away

It was bitterly cold and frigid today.  I kept stalling and watching the news to check if school was closed.  It wasn't :(.  The funniest thing about these outfits that I put together, is that I rarely take my coat off in class.  So I guess that does support my claim that I dress for myself :).

On the 1's and 2's

My sis and I went to support her friend who is a local dj at a Mediterranean lounge last night.  It was freezing!  If I knew how bone chillingly cold it was, I would not have budged out of my bed.  But alas, I didn't know and I was dressed and ready to go.  Due to the subzero temperature, there was not a big turnout, but the vibe was cool and chill, just how I like.  On a fashion note, I am loving olive green right now.  It makes me feel warm and content.

We're back at it again!

Spring session has begun and this is what I wore to meet the beast head on.  I'm actually looking forward to my classes.  My schedule consists primarily of AfroAm and Women's Studies courses, right up my alley.

How cool is this ice sculpture?

Civic Duty

There is a fear amongst many immigrants that they will be selected for jury duty as soon as they become naturalized.  I, on the other hand have always looked forward to jury duty.  Well here's my chance!

Fighting Spirit

Tonight I went out with a friend to the movies.  We originally planned on seeing Black Swan, but the movie had already started by the time we got there so we opted to watch The Fighter instead.  It was really good, it had drama, realistic action and a great plot and dialogue.  Plus Christian Bale (serious actor) and Mark Walhberg (eye candy & fellow Bostonian) are in it, what more can you ask for?

I can not tell a lie

I thought about making up some fantastic story to tell you about this outfit, and where it took me, but then I realized that that’s akin to lying.  Ok, fine it’s flat out lying and bloggers don’t lie to their internet friends.  That would be wrong.  So here’s the truth, I went to see this play a couple of weeks ago don’t remember where I wore this outfit to.  But I enjoyed wearing it.  Hope you like too!

Hair it is

This is a style that I tried on my hair a couple of weeks ago and the makeup that I did. I’ve been following this natural hair blog that posts natural hair pics of all sorts.  It has given me sooo much inspiration for my hair.  Check it out here.  I spent the day running errands to prepare for my friend’s baby shower.

Vlog!!

Hey hey good people!  Here is a video that I did to show you the great progress my teeth are making.  The top two teeth and the bottom four are closing quite nicely, and I can't wait to see how the other teeth progress over the next several months.  I have to work on my editing, but I hope you enjoy.  Feel free to ask me any questions!

Progress

Here are some pics of my teeth before braces, when I first got the braces and how they look after two months.  They have made a lot of progress.  It's so exciting!

Meeting My Needs

Hello kind ladies and gents!  Here is my outfit post for today.  I woke up super late today, and I was feeling sluggish as well.  However, once the day began, I kicked Mr. Sluggish in the gut and ran into the arms of Mr. Sunshine.  I was feeling so good this afternoon, that I ventured out and took pictures outside! Can you believe it?  I do believe that this was my first time taking my outfit pictures outside.  This fuzzy sweater dress is just what the weatherman ordered for a day like today.  It kept me nice and warm, but it wasn’t too warm that I got hot.  Don’t you love when your clothes meet your needs?  If only potential suitors would follow suite. ;)
