"I go back to black"

Sept 20

I took my sissy to the beach with me today.  I think I was rewarding her for something, but I forgot what. I treated her to some lobster, because she has never had it before. She didn't like it is my way of putting it nicely.

Black & white never get old

The beach is one of my favorite places, the water soothes me

I made her eat every bite, I do not waste food

My meal of grilled red snapper and fried plantains was delicious

Life Force

Regular old day, I think I just went walking around town.  I wanted to explore my town, I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked to, but it was still nice to be out and about.  Doing a bit of color blocking, these colors just make me think of life. Green: Plants, Yellow: Sun and Blue: Water.

Wild Life

Here is what I wore to the zoo on the 14th.  I bought these white shorts from H&M.  They're high waisted, I call them mom jeans.  This is also new for me because I don't wear white often.  I'm the type that gets the weirdest stains on my white clothes within 10mins of wearing it.  This top is a favorite of mine.  I like the flower details and the scalloped edges.  I also think the burnt orange is a great contrast for the white.

Money to Blow

Hello hello!
Quick back story. I was at Savers (thrift store chain) on Monday exchanging a purse. As I'm leaving, a crisp $100 bill on the floor behind an empty register catches my eye. For all of two seconds, I considered discreetly picking it up. Then the moral side of my brain kicked in and suggested that I alert the manager. I figured that it probably fell from someone's register, and once the drawer was counted at the end of the shift; said person's drawer would be short, and they would probably be fired for a careless mistake on their part and thievery on mine. I did the right thing and told the manager. You guys don't know how much it hurt, but I sucked it up and went home, as poor as I had left. Fast forward to Sunday. I went to a Haitian club (what a surprise) and as I'm walking to the bathroom, I make out in this dark club, money folded up on the floor. I wasted no time in bending down to pick it up. I sped to the bathroom and lo and behold it was two $20s and a $10. Woohoo! It pays to do the right thing I guess. On to what y'all came for :); fashion!

Pizza for 3

Hi ladies & gents,
Have I ever mentioned my love for pizza? Well I LOVE pizza, especially gourmet pizza. I even make pizza at home when I'm feeling particularly frugal. My favorite toppings are spinach, ground beef, tomatoes (not roasted eww) green peppers, and oodles and oodles of cheese. Two friends and I went out for drinks and din din last Friday. Girl's night is always fun. Lots of gossip and updates.

Eggplant and Mustard Kinda Day

Hi ladies and gents!
I went to dinner with my friend today (that seems to be a trend hunh?)  For some reason I had the most difficult time finding anything to wear.  My room looked like a natural disaster.  I wanted to be comfy because we would be walking but also casually cute.  I finally settled on my trusty mustard shorts and this voluminous eggplant purple top.  I considered wearing sandals, but these zebra flats caught my eye and it was a done deal.  Do you have a go to outfit in mind for casual dinner dates with friends, or do you play it by ear?

That's the Spirit

Short post, mainly pics.

Happy 4th of July to my fellow American readers.  I went to a friend's cookout today.  I wanted to be festive and patriotic without looking like the American flag.

No Speakers

I went out with an old friend to a house party today and it was  a little very lackluster.  Not much else to say about my night, but it was definitely a bust.  That is one event that I could of missed.  Have you ever been to an event where you wanted to turn and walk right out of the door?

Would You Like Fries with That?

Today was deliciously hot!!  I loved it.  I am a summer girl all the way.  I love barbecues, laying on the beach and strolling in the park with a cone of ginger ice cream.

These shorts are really cute, and the pics do not do them justice.  They are a linenesque material, and it is such a nice mustard yellow.  I'm such a frugal shopper, but when I saw them I barely thought twice before splurging lol.

Bonne Fete Drapeau!

Happy Haitian Flag Day everyone!

Pause, yes Haitian Flag Day is really May 18th, but it is being celebrated today May 15th because Boston hosts an annual parade for the occasion on that Saturday.  Local school children march and carry banners and a HUGE Haitian flag.  It's a beautiful sight to behold.  Very family friendly and the whole community comes out to show their support.  The down part about Haitian Flag Day, is that it rains every year.  All day!

In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle

Leopard and red oh my!  This is my only leopard print top, and I want more.  I'm always tempted to wear it when I'm heading out.  I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for reasonably priced animal print tops.

Here We Go Again

Hi ladies and gents,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was a little to chaotic for my liking, and I am looking forward to Friday already.  I dealt with a break up over the weekend, and of course I feel like a villain in my own life story.  The ex is a really great person, but I just didn't feel the spark that we once had in the relationship amongst other things.  Although I am still feeling like the crappiest person walking this lovely green Earth, I think it was for the best.

All Dressed Up with No Where to Go

Today I was supposed to be meeting up with my friend Z for brunch.  We usually schedule a brunch or drinks and appetizers date at least 2x a month.  We've been to some really great restaurants so far.  We spend this time catching up on life.

However, if you noticed the title of this post, and the opening sentence; I did not make it to brunch.  Z and I have hardcore communication issues at times.  There was a huge misunderstanding and we ended up rescheduling.

Taupe (ing) You Have a Great Day

Good day fair readers!  I noticed that I really like the color taupe.  I don't have a lot of taupe in my closet, but the few that I do have get a lot of action.  Like this taupe sweater/cardigan thingamajiggy.  I adore the waffle design, and it's so versatile that I can pair it with a T, long sleeves or a sleeveless top or dress.
I got this pendant at Claire's for $2, and I do not regret my purchase at all.  I was drawn to the vintage perfume bottle design and the attractive price.

These reptilian inspired booties are one of my faves.  They're really comfortable, and the design is unlike anything that I've seen in regular stores like F21 or H&M.  The taupe sweater/cardigan thingamajiggy brings out the taupe in the bootie so this outfit is #winning all around for me.

Ruffles and Stripes Oh My!

What was I doing with my life before H&M reentered?  Lol, I currently love H&M.  I haven't always but now that we've talked it out, things are going great.  I think it has something for just about any style.  Their clothes are also really reasonably priced.  Cute, trendy and low cost, sounds like a keeper in my book (yes I have a book).  My biggest gripe with H&M though, is their pricing system.  I rarely buy anything full price at H&M because the same item that was priced $34.95 will be discounted to $10-$15 with a week or two.  So cherished readers shop full price at your own peril (dramatic I know lol).

* I am not being paid for advertising, I just really love the store.

What is it about the sepia effect that makes everything look so whimsical?

Badass

There is something about wearing all black that makes me feel tough.  I don't know what it is, but I have an image in my head of riding around on a Harley, and taking my helmet off to whip my hair back and forth (lol I couldn't resist).  The leather jacket also adds to my badass persona.  Indulge me people :).

Nesting

I went with the boo to church today.  I intended on wearing this skirt, but I was unsure what top to pair it with.  When I settled on this top, I wondered how my polka dot tights would look with it.  I rarely mix patterns, but after seeing how well the two different sized dots looked together, I think I like it, and I just may try it again.

Wild Thang, You Make My Heart Sing

Howdy ladies and gents,
Corny I know, but these cowboy boots bring out the country in me lol.  I got them a couple of weeks ago from Steve Madden.  Prissy of Rush Our Fashion is so good to her readers, she gave us a heads up that Steve Madden was having a 1/2 off clearance special and I being the overzealous shoe collector that I am wasted no time in picking a couple to come home to me.

Soft and Neutral

My sister in law threw a surprise birthday party for my brother today.  Of course I was late and made it there way after the birthday boy's arrival.  I like to think that I made a fashionably late entrance.  It was at a cool restaurant called Louie's in Patriot's Place.  Definitely check it out if you live in or are visiting the great Bay State.  Since it was a small family and friends hang out vibe, I wore jeans and a plain v neck white T.

Ruined

On Feb 5th, I went to see Ruined with the honey.  It’s a play about the conflict in the Congo, and some of the effects it has on members of its society.  It was soo good and I’m so glad I took the initiative to bring him.  He enjoyed it as well.  I really like the arts, and I love cultural events especially ones that realistically showcase African cultures.  This fit the bill completely; a must see if you ever have the chance.
