Aspirations, dreams and goals

Aspiration: n; a strong desire to achieve something high or great.
Dreams: n; a strongly desired goal or purpose.
Goals: n; the end toward which effort is directed.
I recently had a conversation with someone (saying ”the honey” in every other post gets redundant), about what we want for ourselves in the next couple of years.  It’s always refreshing to have such open and honest conversations with people about what they want for themselves and how they are working towards those goals.  I also feel that when you voice your dreams and aspirations it can make it seem more attainable especially if you have a strong support system.  One thing he said in this conversation that stuck with me, is that often people are afraid of success and the responsibilities that come with it.  I am going to try to actively work towards attaining my goals, and stop being such a punk.

Ruined

On Feb 5th, I went to see Ruined with the honey.  It’s a play about the conflict in the Congo, and some of the effects it has on members of its society.  It was soo good and I’m so glad I took the initiative to bring him.  He enjoyed it as well.  I really like the arts, and I love cultural events especially ones that realistically showcase African cultures.  This fit the bill completely; a must see if you ever have the chance.

Kings!!

I went bowling with the honey and although I forgot to take outfit pics I did manage to snap two random pics of the place.  And apparently I suck at bowling??? I never knew that.  I thought I was pretty decent until I got my dignity handed to me on a bowling pin by someone who admits that they suck at bowling.  Seriously though I think I provided him with motivational comments that secured his win.  So technically it's our win!

Yummy Yummy in My tummy!

I can be very Haitian at times.  I love almost all types of Haitian food, I love most genres of Haitian music.  I support a lot of Haitian events, both nightlife and cultural.  One type of Haitian food that I love is maimoulen.  It’s cornmeal (polenta), that can be cooked alone, with beans (like rice and beans) or in this case with spinach and tomatoes.  This dish is traditionally served with pollock for breakfast.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears oh my!

Did I mention my love for color?  If not, I LOVE colors.  I am also in love with patterned tights.  I think it can definitely enhance any outfit.  You may have also noticed how much I love to layer bracelets and bangles.  I am an accessories fiend.  Outfit how much do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  Books in pic: check!  Accessories: check! Colors: check!
Dress: Target; Boots: Old Navy; Tights: Wet Seal; Belt & Earrings: F2; Bangles & Necklace: Various stores & boutiques

Books

Libro, livre, buch=book.  Since I was a child, I loved to read.  It was an escape for me into worlds that were so different and much more wonderful than mine.  Fast forward to adulthood, I’m the type of woman that reads just about any and everything.  Cookbooks, travel & product reviews, blogs and most importantly books  I’ve been slacking in the book reading department lately though.

Blue skies and yellow daffodils

I love navy blue and yellow together.  I’m not sure why but it just seems right.  Have you noticed how colors are ascribed feelings in my head lol?  As cute as I felt on Monday, this outfit was not weather appropriate and to top it off, I wore a cute short navy blue peacoat instead of my long puffy winter coat.  No bueno!  I froze my little bum on my way back home!
Cardigan: F21; Blouse: Marshalls; Leggings: Marshalls; Boots: Old Navy; Jewelry: F21

Kitchen God

I have a love hate relationship with cooking.  Sometimes I work magic in the kitchen, other times I feel like I made gruel.  It always seems to be hit or miss with me.  But my saving grace is my baking skills.  I’m a pretty good baker.  But I also happen to love the basics and aesthetics of cooking.  How beautiful and vibrant are the colors of the tomato, onions and scallions?
