Today, I had plans to go to the movies with my friend Z but she had to cancel, so I attempted to run an errand or two. That did not go according to plan, so I was all dressed up with no where to go lol. If it makes me look any better, I did manage to leave the house, I got pretty far but I didn’t accomplish what I wanted to get done. Anyways on to the outfit. I love this plaid shirt, it reminds me of the gingham patterns of picnic tablecloths. Picnics make me think of summer, and the smell of grass. I have a lot of colors going on with this outfit, but I like to think I made it work. Is there anything you would have done differently with this ensemble?

Tis the Season
This post is picture heavy, but I thought there were so many great shots and I couldn’t narrow it down to four. Anyhoo, this is what I wore to go out with my sis tonight. We did a regular club night. Looking through these pics, I’m loving the black on black look. I think my take on it was feminine, timeless, fierce and tough yet sexy. My sis however thought that I was too covered up, and she quipped that I looked like I was going to church. What do you think, would I receive a blessing in this getup?
Night on the Town
My sis and I went to see Kreyol La and Harmonik perform Xmas night. I was underwhelmed at the bal for a variety of reasons, but I did enjoy my outfit. I found this little beauty on sale at Arden B, and it fits very well and I think it gracefully toes the line between sexy and sleazy. I’m pretty sure I did not cross the line though. If you haven’t noticed before from my nightlife outfit postings, I love black! I just think it brings out my skin tone really well and black is so elegant, and plus I reserve my colorful clothing collection for the summer (how’d you like the alliteration?)

Yankee Doodle
My stepbrother and his wife had a Yankee Swap last night. I had a great time, imbibed in way too much spirits, but hey I wasn’t driving and it was all in the comfort of some one’s home so no harm no foul right? I’ve never really understood that saying but oh well, all’s well that ends well. I just did it again didn’t I? Darn English language!! For those that aren’t really into the excessive consumerism that comes with Xmas, try having a Yankee Swap with friends and family. Good clean fun, and if it gets a little messy, someone will probably have won a Shamwow that they wouldn’t mind lending out. I lucked out with my gift, some people got gag gifts like a Lord of the Rings dvd, a Hello Kitty lamp and a bottle of vodka. Some people like to have fun with the items they bring but I actually prefer to give someone something that they can either use for themselves or regift. Have you ever hosted or been to a Yankee Swap?

Fudge and Frosting
I wore this outfit to class and a solo study session in the library. I don’t wear pink often, but I really like the mix of the brown blouse and the deep pink cardigan. I’ll definitely try to mix these two colors together again. Do you have any odd color pairings? P.S. I love these flower/pearl shaped earrings, but these pesky suckers do not stay put in my ears :(

Preppy By Nature
When I think of preps, I think of cardigans and argyle, so I your lovely blogger combined both! Ingenious hunh? I think I did preppy chic justice today. I’m a little unsure about the black pearls though, imagine if someone thought I was a preppy goth or something of that sort. The horror! I’ve always admired fashion bloggers who take very creative and artistic pictures in super cool locales like coffee shops or train tracks. I briefly toyed with the idea of taking pics in a public setting, but that thought was quickly thrown to the wayside when I realized how frigidly cold it was and I envisioned all of the people that would be gawking at me. I was so nervous of being caught taking pictures of myself in the Russian section of the library.

Preppy Chic
This week’s theme is preppy chic. My idea of preppy chic is lots of cardigans, pearls, flats and natural makeup. Preppy chic is a no fuss look. Who cares if I spent hours putting the look together, the idea is to look effortlessly chic. Let me know if you think I did preppy chic justice, or what you think constitutes preppy chic.

When you're here you're family
I went to dinner with my sister and some friends to have a belated birthday dinner for the sis. Her birthday was on the 22nd of November so I don’t even think it counts. However we all got free dessert because we were out celebrating her birthday lol. No complaints here. I’m not really into Italian food, and I’ve only been to Olive Garden once or twice so I didn’t have high expectations for dinner. Dining out is more about the experience which includes the food but also includes the company I’m in, the service and the ambiance. I can tell you the company that I was in was hilarious. We had quite a lively and dirty conversation during dinner that I’m sure caused a few raised eyebrows from fellow diners.

Orange You Glad You Stopped By?
I felt like a collage of foliage in this outfit. To top it off, this outfit was super cheap, because the blazer and the turtleneck were swapped :) Doesn’t get any better than that folks!! Not much excitement today, I wore this to class and did some reading at the library for a couple of hours. I love the color scheme, I tried not to be too matchy matchy but I think I failed. I’ve also been trying to experiment with different effects and editing techniques on my Mac so let me know how it looks or if I should just leave the pics as is. I’m also really proud to say that I’ve been taking pics with my timer and jumping into a pose just in time. Lol I’m getting better at it.

Not Tapas but small Plates
I met up with my friend Z to catch up on all the things going on in our lives. We went to Cuchi Cuchi, an eclectic restaurant in Central Square, Cambridge. The decor was so over the top, the waitstaff had cool 1920’s? flapper outfits on. Z and I always order several appetizers to share, so we can grub while we gab. We had a Moroccan chicken dish with couscous and grapes, deep fried tomato from Mexico and potato croquettes from France. How cool is it that we got to traverse several continents without being groped or viewed naked? I always have fun meeting up with Z because she is that friend every woman should have, supportive, great listener, funny and she knows when to give her input. I hope I’m as good a friend to her as she is to me.
Layers of Fun
Here is what I wore to hang with Z. This is an example of a layered outfit. My cargo styled dress is a summer dress but I paired it with a long knit sweater duster thingamajig, tights and long socks and I like to think the look worked?
